What gym equipment is the most effective in losing weight?
I just starting going to the gym at college… and i didn’t really know what machines to use. I want to lose a good 10 pounds and want to spend an hour a day for 4 days a week at the gym. Today i used the bike for 30 min and the elliptical trainer for 30min. What exactly should i do?? I eventually want to tone my body by weights n stuff but i thought i would work on cardio first?
The fastest and most effective way to lose weight for good is to change your lifestyle.
1) Eat healthy food, fruits, vegetables, avoid processed foods (if you cant pronounce something on the ingredient label you probably don’t want to eat it).
2)Lift free weights, they are much more effective for muscle growth than machines. I know what your thinking "i don’t want to bulk up". Free Weights wont bulk you up they will just increase your lean muscle mass and speed up your metabolism.
3) Do compound exercises i.e. push-ups dips, lunges, squats, bench-press. They aren’t just guy exercises and use challenging weight. Aim for a balance between reps and sets (3×8).
4) Don’t just go through the motions actually put forth your best effort in all you do. Do the exercise in a slow and controlled manner.
5) The most effective form fat burning is interval training. High intensity (sprints of a sort) then a brief rest period and Sprint again. This can be done by running, swimming, and pretty much anything.
Running up a hill while miserable is most effective, so are "suicides".
Best news is you don’t have to do intervals for 30 minutes straight.
6) Drink plenty of water, try your hardest, get adequate sleep/rest, and above all eat properly.

I would do 45 min elliptical trainer and then 15 mins strength training to start off. Your supposed to combine cardio & strength training together for a more effective weight loss because building muscle also burns fat and speeds up your metabolism along with cardio.
Also doing intervals is more effective so like 30 seconds at a fast pace, 90 seconds a normal pace, 20 seconds an even more faster pace, etc

Losing weight isn’t just about the equipment. It’s also about living a healthy lifestyle.
If you want to lose weight, in addition to exercise, you should definitely be:
1. Drinking plenty of water
2. Eating a well-balanced diet
3. Getting enough sleep
4. Making time to relax
5. Stretching, warming up, and cooling down before every workout
As for equipment, I’d recommend building a solid core. Running is great for building up your cardio (which boosts metabolism). PriceBusterSports.com has a lot of great running equipment (treadmills, apparel, shoes, exercise equipment, etc.) to help you out. Plus it’s very cheap, also great for a college student
As always, talk to your doctor if you’re still concerned about your weight. He or she can offer some insight on what could work best for your body.
Hope this helps!
