I have a bowflex extreme and I love it..I have three kids and I am a size 4. I have a six pack and people are always amazed. I’m 34 and it really only takes about 20 mintues a day.

does anyone have an assembly manual for the weider pro 3770 home gym?

Good AT HOME workout with NO EQUIPMENT?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I’m trying to get a "bolder" chest and to trim some fat off my thighs. Actually, everywhere in general!
I need a simple and effective at home workout regiment for the year. Again, I don’t have the money to afford a gym membership / equipment. If anyone could please give me a few suggestions (text based) that’d be great!

(things such as push-ups, etc)

There is a great at home workout in the current issue of Muscle & Fitness Hers called "Super Intervals". Yes, it’s a women’s magazine–this month’s cover is even pink, but the workout is killer. I’ve only been able to convince one of my male co-workers to do the intervals at lunch with me. The others are afraid.

I’ve seen the issue at my local grocery store and local drugstore — most places that sell a variety of magazines should carry it.

The workout has three phases:

Strength Training
High Intensity Intervals [think: cardio]
Cool Down [more strength training]

And, it can be done completely at home or over your lunch hour. If you can’t make it through all 4 sets of 15 reps of push ups that are included as part of the strength training phase, you could try modified push ups or use the back of a couch or the arm of a couch to make them easier.

Also, instead of doing just body weight on the 4 sets of 15 reps of squats, you could hold something heavy (like a dumbbell or a sandbag) while doing them.

You aren’t going to get ‘big’ (like body builder big) by doing this but you’ll definitely build up more muscle and lose fat. And it’ll kick your butt — It feels like you’ve really got a great workout once you’re done.

There is a second article in the same magazine about doing resistance exercises without weights — something else you can do at home — but I haven’t tried that workout yet.

How much does one of those video game home fitness things cost?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Are there different types? Is one brand or type cheaper than another? Thanks.

Wii Fit is about $100 and comes with the balance board. If you don’t already have a Wii, that will run you about $250. I don’t know of any other home fitness video games.

What would be a good home exercise machine to purchase?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Something you will use regularly. There’s lots of "gimick" items out there, start with something you think you would enjoy doing, there are a ton of DVD’s on Beachbody.com and many have eating plans and optional pieces of equiptment you can use like hand weights or resistance bands. Larger pieces of equiptment like treadmills and elipticals often end up being great coat racks and dust collectors. I have a couple of salsa dancing dvd’s and a variety of others that I use to mix up the routines so I never really have a chance to get board.
Good Luck!

What’s the best home exercise equipment I can buy for under $500?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Preferably under $200 but that might be dreaming.

I’m pretty happy with my Gazelle. Depending on your weight (we had to buy the more expensive one because I weigh too much for the WalMart version) they can be had for about $189 to $200 in WalMart and KMart. Good aerobic exercise, too.

What is a fun at home exercise program?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

From those of you who have tried some what are some exercise dvd’s/programs that you can do at home and get good results?- Perhaps some pilates/dance stuff
also not outrageously expensive- thanks

I use Tae-Bo Boot camp and my Total body gym. I lost 60 pounds in about 4 months and I loved it. It never really felt like exercise it was fun and energizing. Good Luck!!!

Where can I find the best gym workout program?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I weigh 97Kg, and Im trying to loose bout 10 kgs but I also want to tone my body. Im currently doing free weights at the gym and not enough cardio. I enjoy free weights and hate the treadmill, how can I get the maximum results, what is the best exercise workout for my situation

Any exercise that makes you sweat is going to help you lose some weight. But you also have to be eating properly. Going to the gym and working out for an hour, and then coming home and eating a bag of chips isnt going to help you lose weight. If you want to lose weight, you have to make sure that your not only focusing on exercise but also on diet, as they go hand in hand.

As far as work-out programs go, if your only looking to lose weight than you have to be doing supersets. Supersets are when you work out a muscle group by doing low weights , really quickly. So lets say if your doing bicep curls with dumbells, the sets should take no longer than 30 seconds. The point of doing supersets is to increase heart rate and to for the body to start burning calories. Search up superset on google and do some more research if thats the path your interested in taking. Thats what I would suggest.
